PROBLEM

Stuart Cinema & Cafe is an independent movie theater featuring films of independent artists as well as first and second run movies. Part of their business model is selling tickets online, which had grown incredibly difficult due to poor site design and the limitations of Wix templates (see below).

Make it easier to purchase tickets online, as well as provide options to search for future showings

SOLUTIONS

The site was transferred to Squarespace for better connectivity between pages, galleries and calendars. The following is a summary of wireframing decisions based on customer type:

For same-day purchases: To make use of high front page traffic, we added a side list of scheduled showings featuring film's by date, time and link to purchase tickets. The link takes customers directly to the offsite ticketing system.
For customers wanting to learn more about each film: We use an industry standard, rotating banner for current films and events. Each banner redirects customers to a movie/event page with the film’s title, synopsis, trailer and showtimes. Every showtime is linked directly to an offsite ticketing system for final purchase. In case they change their mind about the movie, a second gallery is placed at the bottom to choose another film.
For customers who want to plan ahead: The formats mention above are limited by the movie or schedule up to the present day, therefore a “Schedule” and “Coming Soon” tab were added to list the full schedule of all films/events in the upcoming month.
